PHHHOTOS - REVIVED is a fan remake of PHHHOTO, the 2014 app that made instant moving pictures: tap the shutter, get a short looping GIF of the moment, and share it on a feed with your friends. It is free, has no ads, and is not affiliated with PHHHOTO, Inc.

The story of PHHHOTO
PHHHOTO launched in New York in July 2014 and quickly became one of the most fun corners of social media: a camera that captured a few seconds as a moving picture instead of a still photo. In 2015 Instagram cut it off from its friend finder and released Boomerang, and in June 2017 PHHHOTO shut down. People still search for it, still miss it, and still have their old loops. This remake is for them.

What was PHHHOTO?
PHHHOTO was a photo app from New York, launched in July 2014. You held the shutter, it took a quick burst of photos and turned them into a short looping moving picture, like a GIF, that you shared on a feed with your friends. At its peak millions of people used it every month.
What happened to PHHHOTO?
In 2015 Instagram cut PHHHOTO off from its friend finder and launched Boomerang, a very similar looping-video app. PHHHOTO's growth stalled, and it shut down in June 2017, signing off "2014–2017". Its company went back to making photo booths, and later sued Meta over Boomerang.
Is PHHHOTO coming back?
The original PHHHOTO app is gone. PHHHOTOS - REVIVED is a fan remake that rebuilds it: the camera, the loops, the feed, #WOW, likes, comments and follows. It is not made by or affiliated with PHHHOTO, Inc.
Is PHHHOTOS - REVIVED the official PHHHOTO app?
No. It is an unofficial, non-commercial fan remake for a small group of people who missed the app. PHHHOTO is a trademark of PHHHOTO, Inc.
How do I get PHHHOTOS - REVIVED?
It is a free iPhone app, invite only and not on the App Store. It installs with SideStore using your own Apple ID. The Get the app page has the steps.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. PHHHOTOS - REVIVED is iPhone only for now. Anyone can watch moving pictures on this website.
Can I see moving pictures without the app?
Yes. Every public profile and post is on this website: #WOW shows the best loops, People lists everyone, and any post link opens its loop, likes and comments in the browser.
How is it different from Boomerang or Live Photos?
PHHHOTO came first, in 2014. A PHHHOTO is a handful of frames played as a loop, made for a feed of friends rather than stories that disappear. PHHHOTOS - REVIVED keeps that: shoot, pick a look, add TXT, post, and it stays on your profile.
